Electrical Engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. Electronics & Electrical Engineering first became an identifiable occupation in the late nineteenth century after commercialization of the electric telegraph and electrical power supply. It now covers a range of subtopics including power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunications. Electronics & Electrical Engineering is an engineering discipline where non-linear and active electrical components such as electron tubes, and semiconductor devices, especially transistors, diodes and integrated circuits, are utilized to design electronic circuits, devices and systems, typically also including passive electrical components and based on printed circuit boards.
The field of Electrical Engineering covers important subfields such as analog electronics, digital electronics, consumer electronics, embedded systems and power electronics.
